  5. What's the best way to find an appointment that suits my needs?

There is no wrong way to use Lifebooker. There are a number of tools and options we provide you with, all of which are easy to use. You may find certain tools more helpful for certain situations, or that you feel particularly comfortable using the site one way.

Appointment Search: If you know exactly what you want and when, use our Appointment Search located on the right side of the Lifebooker homepage. Simply enter your desired appointment criteria (service type, date, time, etc.) then press SEARCH to see appointments that fit your selections.

Browsing Lifebooker: If you'd rather browse through the site to see all that Lifebooker has to offer, just choose a service category from the pull down menus at the top of the site, from the categories listed on the bottom of the homepage, or anywhere else on the site you find a service or business that interests you.

Appointment Filter: After using the Appointment Search, or while browsing the site, you can always use the Appointment Filter located on the left side of the search results page to narrow down the results by time, date, location, number of clients, and even practitioner gender.

  6. How should I use each Appointment Filter?

Both in the Appointment Search on the homepage, and in the Appointment Filters on the search results page, you will find a number of filters. These are tools that will allow you to find exactly the service you want, when you want it and at a price that fits your budget. Below is a brief description of how each filter works.

Date Range: Do you want to get a treatment today, or just sometime in the next month? You can find an appointment that works for you by selecting a date range using the calendars that appear when you click on each of the dates in the date range text fields. If you are only interested in appointments taking place on a single date just select the same date in each of the fields.

Time: Is your entire day free, or do you only have a few hours after work when you could squeeze in a blowout? Use the slider controls on the Time filter to indicate the times that could work for you. Simply click on the time-sliders, and drag them to the time limits that best suit you.

Discount: Want to only see appointments that are discounted by at least 30% off? Drag the slider on the Discount filter to limit the search results according to discount amount.

Price Range: Are working within a specific budget? Set a price range by typing the lowest and highest amounts you are willing to spend into the text fields in the Price Range filter.

Services: Want a massage and a manicure? See as many or as few services at once in the results by making selections using check boxes next to each type of service (Haircut, Blowout, Coloring, Etc). These check boxes become viewable by pressing the "+" next to a service category (i.e. Hair).

Number of Clients: Are you going to an establishment by yourself, with a friend, or in a group? Find services available at the same time for more than one person by selecting a number of clients from the drop-down menu in the Number of Clients filter.

Practitioner Gender: Would you prefer a male or female practitioner for the service you are interested in booking? Select your preference using the drop down menu in the Practitioner Gender filter.

Location: Find services in specific neighborhoods by making selections with the check boxes in the Location filter. These boxes become viewable by pressing the "+" next to a larger area (i.e. Manhattan). (Note: you can change the city you are searching in with the links in the top left hand corner of the Lifebooker homepage directly above our logo).

  7. How do I book a service?

Booking on our site is simple, and we have designed the process to be as easy and intuitive as possible. Should you have any difficulty booking please feel free to call our support team at (800) 401-9258 or follow the instructions below.

Once you've found the service(s) you'd like to book simply add them by pressing the ADD buttons next to each service name. You will now be prompted to either Select an Appointment Time or Add the Service to your "My Services" box and continue browsing. Your "My Services" box is located at the top right corner of the page and stores all of the services you have selected on Lifebooker.

Once you are finished browsing and selecting all the services you wish to book, click the orange Select Appointment Time button at the bottom of the My Services box. If you are not logged into the system, you will now be prompted to either log in (if you have a Lifebooker account) or to create a Lifebooker account (which is free and takes less than a minute).

You will now be taken to a page where you can Select Appointment Times for each service you have added. Click the orange Select Time buttons located on the left side of the page to see all available appointment times for this service. You can browse through the availabilities of the previous or next week using the links at the top of the calendar, or view the availabilities for a date in the future by clicking the Skip to a Date link in the upper right hand corner of the calendar.

You can also choose to see only available appointment times when a service is discounted by checking the Show Discounts Only box at the top of the calendar. If you would like to book for more than one person at the same time, select the total number of clients in the drop-down menu also located at the top of the calendar. (Note: if you would like to have more than one person receive the same service at different times, click "+ add this service again" link and you will be able to select the desired time for each person).

  8. How do I find out more about a particular business listed on Lifebooker?

Once you have begun a search, you will see business names listed above the services they offer. If you would like to know more about a specific business and see their entire service menu, clicking on their name will bring you to their profile page. Once there, you will also be able to view the reviews other Lifebookers have written in regards to the specific services that business has available.

  9. How do I find out more about a specific service?

If you see a service that interests you, hover over the service name and a small pop-up window will appear with any information about the service the business offering it has provided. You are also able to view the reviews other Lifebookers have written in regards to the specific services that business has available by visiting their profile page.

  10. How do I book appointments with a friend or a group?

You can book an appointment with a friend or group of people by using the Number of Clients filter in either the Appointment Search (located on the homepage) or the Appointment Filter (located next to the left of the search results).

  11. Why do I see a $1 charge on my statement after I enter my credit card information?

To verify authenticity of the credit card information you have provided, Lifebooker places a $1 authorization hold on the credit card account. After 24-48 hours, the authorization will disappear.

  12. How do I find reviews and ratings on Lifebooker, and where do they come from?

Unlike other online directories where anyone can rate and review, Lifebooker only displays ratings from actual clients who have booked and honored real appointments.

When you are on the search page, you can read a business' review by hovering over the small speech bubble icon next to each of their services. This will provide you with a link to more reviews as well. You can also access all of a business's reviews by visiting their profile page and selecting the "Reviews" tab.

You will also notice there that the business you are viewing has the opportunity to respond once to each review given to them. This helps to ensure each review is fair.

You can find the rating (1 to 5 stars) for each individual service offered listed in the search results under the rating header. Each business' overall rating (the average of all service ratings) can be found on its profile page.

  13. Do I have to set up a free account to use Lifebooker?

Anyone may search our site and access all business and service information as well as our ratings and reviews. If you'd like to actually book an appointment, earn Reward Dollars, or rate and review services, you must set up a free client account. Click here to do so if you haven't already.

  14. Why do I need to enter my phone number?

We want to ensure that if an establishment wishes, they have the ability to contact you so as to make your appointment experience as enjoyable as possible. Also, we want to make sure that our customer service team can contact you with any information in the rare case that an appointment cannot be accommodated (if, for example, a business is forced to close temporarily and is unable to contact their clients).

  15. How do I view my account and my past and upcoming appointment information?

To view or update your Lifebooker Account, just log in using the Login link located at the top of every page on the site. Once logged in, you can check your reward balance, change your password, view all of your past and upcoming appointments, rate and review honored appointments for rewards, invite friends for rewards and more.

  16. What are Reward Dollars?

Every time you book an appointment, you'll have the opportunity to earn Reward Dollars. You can save these in your Lifebooker account and use them towards an appointment for any service listed on our site. Each Reward Dollar is worth the equivalent of $1 US, and earning rewards is easy: just honor and rate your appointments on Lifebooker. Reward Dollars may be redeemed 24 hours after an appointment takes place.

  17. What happens if an establishment is unable to accept my booking, or cancels the appointment before it takes place?

We work exclusively with the premier establishments in your city in order to maximize customer satisfaction. If a cancellation does occur, or an establishment is unable to accept a booking, you will receive notification. In this case, any rewards you used towards the appointment will be returned to your reward balance. Plus, you'll receive all of the reward dollars you would've earned had the appointment taken place as a consolation for the inconvenience.

  20. Why do I have to enter in my credit card details if Lifebooker is free?

Your credit card assurance is required by businesses in order to reserve appointments. After your appointment, you will pay the business directly using the method of your choice.

Lifebooker ONLY charges you if you fail to honor or cancel your appointment according to the policies each business lists on our site. You may cancel your appointment on Lifebooker at any time.

  21. How do I cancel an appointment, and what is your cancellation policy?

You may cancel an appointment simply by logging-in to your account (using the Login link located at the top of every page on the site), then finding the appointment you would like to cancel in your upcoming appointments, and clicking the "x" listed next to it. Note that Lifebooker doesn't dictate the cancellation policies of our partners. An establishment's cancellation policy will always be exhibited clearly when you book and when you cancel an appointment. It is the business with which you book that reserves the right to charge you according to their stated cancellation policy. If they choose to do so, they will alert Lifebooker and you will receive an email.

How do I view my upcoming appointments?

  22. What is your "No-Show" policy, and how is this different from a cancellation?
